CARBON CREDIT

ABOUT THE INDUSTRY

Carbon Credit is the mechanism through which an organization or an economy is allowed to emit a certain amount of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases such as allowing the emission of one ton of GHG. Credits are typically traded in units of one tonne of CO2, and it is predicted that 2 billion tonnes of CO2 credits will be required to meet the 2030 goal.

Carbon credits enable businesses to offset their greenhouse gas pollution. In India, the voluntary carbon credit is expected to touch 500-plus million units by 2030. A carbon market allows investors and corporations to trade both carbon credits and carbon offsets simultaneously. This mitigates the environmental crisis, while also creating new market opportunities.
