The seventeenth BRICS Summit, held in Rio de Janeiro on July 6-7, 2025, brought together major emerging economies to address key global challenges. The theme of “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for a More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance” highlighted the current geopolitical and economic realities, with member countries working together under Brazil’s leadership to reinforce South-South cooperation.

A significant topic was the urgent need to reform international institutions like the United Nations, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and World Trade Organization. The goal is to make these organizations more representative and effective in responding to today’s global dynamics. The inclusion of new state members extended BRICS’ reach.
